Yesterday evening on 2nd June, the Super-fast Coromandel express faced accident with a goods train in Bahanaga, Balasore district of Odisha. 


It is reported that total three trains are involved in this train accident. 

The Super fast Coromandel express carrying passengers from Howrah and heading to Chennai first hit a goods train in Balasore and around 15 coaches are derailed and fell on the opposite tracks. After that the Yeshwanthpur Howrah Super-fast express carrying passengers from Bengaluru to Howrah hit the derailed coaches and around 2 of its coaches are derailed too. 


When this accident happened, the local people said they had heard a very loud noise and sound and they rushed outside. 


As per them, when they came outside, it was a very terrific situation where the train coaches are derailed and people were screaming and crying, and electric poles were bent etc.. 


As per the govt officials, the counting is not yet complete. Local people were helping to rescue the injured and stuck passengers from the derailed coaches. People are very terrified in this incident. 

NDRF team has reached lated and started the rescue operation. Over 300 people were rescued injured and were taken to hospital. 


As the accident was too severe, more casualties are expected to be there. So far around 233 passengers are found dead and around 30 were found dead by yesterday evening. 


It is reported that the trains to be going or scheduled to be running in that route are cancelled. 


Odisha CM and West Bengal CM are monitoring the situation personally and getting the information from the chief secretaries and other officials in real time. 


Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi also expressed the grief and consoled to the family members and relatives of the dead and injured passengers. 


Central Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has expressed his grief and declared 10 lakhs of consolation package for the family of the dead passengers and 2 lakhs for major injured passengers and 50000 for minor injured passengers. 


He has reached to the ground zero and having the discussion with the senior officials and going over the incident situation. 


According to the Chief Secretary Mr. Pradeep Jena said that the NDRF, ODRF, and fire team are doing the search and rescue operation. Already 233 dead bodies are counted by 3rd June morning. Whose body can be identified, that body can be handed over to their family. Whose body cannot be identified and claimed then govt will do necessary rituals. 

Train overlapped on another coach


As per him there is a general coach of the train which is severely damaged and it has gone inside of the earth cause of a derailed coach has gone to it's top . It has become a challenge for the people to extract out all the dead or alive people. 


Over 900 people have identified as injured and sent to hospital. 


As per new channel, there are 3 coaches of Yeshwanthpur Howrah severely damaged and gone inside of the chips and mentals where a lot of people are expected to be extracted and people can see their hands and legs.  


In Balasore district, over 900 units blood are donated by the local people yesterday to save the injured and it is a commendable action by the localities. 


And over 100 units of blood are already collected in SCB medical college and hospital where many injured are being treated. Around 70 passengers have reached to this hospital and 4-5 people are serious and 1 person is sent to Central ICU. 


Different govt and private hospitals in near by districts like Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Cuttuck and Jajpur are receiving the injured to do treatment and also are ready to do more treatment. 


Local people are carrying injured in their motorcycles to the hospitals since there is a shortage of ambulances. 


Even we noticed the dead bodies are carried in tractors and pickup vans. 


Govt is on top of this to speed up the operation and also giving the updates regularly.. 


It is said that this kind of incident is a first time in Odisha history where 3 trains are involved in the accident. This scenario is so heart wrenching.. 


We have seen a team of an Indian Army also reached to help in doing the search and rescue operation.
